Comfortable with being UNcomfortable

comfort

Even I’m judged!  It’s not just you 🙂

Going through the process of moving across the country —– trying new things and jumping into activities that are “So Seattle” ….

I’ve also received judgments from others about all the “new things” that I’m doing.  It has been perceived from others (especially on the east coast) that I’m “trying to find myself”.  Isn’t that funny?  I’m thinking that expanding my activities and doing things that make me uncomfortable and scary are making me grow as a person.  My greatest goal is to be relatable to others… what a better way than trying new things!  When those people that “try” to push their judgments on me, about me trying to “find myself” — I just think they are nutty as fruitcakes.

fruit

Honestly, maybe they should try things that they are curious about and be more open.  The more you step out and push your curiosity to the next level the more you become comfortable with being uncomfortable.  It’s amazing how much I have grown as a person the past 5 months.

By kayaking- trying laughter yoga- jumping into drum circles-  learning about the trans community-hula hooping with the homeless- coming out of the closest about being an empath– I have a greater appreciation for life & people in general. I have found new activities here that I wouldn’t be able to do back east.  I feel that every person I meet now I have a genuine connection with and they are an instant friend.

that is an art my friend. 🙂

SO maybe when I get “judged” again I’ll just say “go fruitcake yourself”.

 Now I’m hungry

My first time in first class!!

guess who got bumped to first class on my flight from Dallas to seattle???  Let’s just say I didn’t want to sleep the entire flight and I was enjoying every minute on it!! They kicked off the flight with a warm wet hand rag that was dipped in lemon!!! Then they took our drink order!!

I ordered the hot tea & we had complimentary hot nuts

The sandwich was amazing! Warm -fresh and perfect portions…. And free! Served on a tray of course!

I also couldn’t figure out where the tray table was. FYI it’s in the arm rest.

#FirstClassSelfie

Literally 2 seats from the front

I liked having it in the arm rests. 🙂 much better!!  To sum it up flying first class is an experience more so than just a flight.

Are jansports in style?

While I was wondering around marshalls looking for some treasures in the rough I stumbled on to a whole section of Jansport backpacks. Some were tie dye– others were trendy colors and I especially liked the zebra print one! Living in seattle I’ve seen a lot of Jansport backpacks. Is this a trend or is it just seattle? Can someone let me know??? lol. Xoxo

Birthday Bash!

WOW- I’ve spent the past several days celebrating my birthday!  I used to sulk on my birthday and not appreciate the universe giving me another year on this wonderful planet but now I’m learning to feel the joy.  Have you ever felt guilty about celebrating yourself or having fun?  I usually think wow I should really be working right now.  Someone recently said to me “Jen just feel the joy instead of rejecting it”.  Those few words were super profound for me.  Why do we feel guilt or think we don’t deserve to enjoy the moment?  This is a struggle for many people so you are not alone.  If you are one of the super fabulous people who don’t feel guilty or don’t think they should be working then you have gotten to a place where a lot of people haven’t.  So Kudos to you!!  When I begin to feel guilt or thinking about how I should be working then I just say to myself “feel the joy” and it snaps me back.

What did I do for my birthday?  I went to a Macklemore concert!!! I’m a bit obsessed with him.  I love he speaks his mind and celebrates equality.  It was actually Amazon’s 20th birthday & their concert but I pretended they were celebrating me– I mean they were right they kept saying “happy birthday”.  🙂

I’ve been meeting some super fabulous people lately.  For 4 months I’ve been focused on making friends & now people are flocking to me to be their friend.  Pretty cool right? IMHO I’m the most amazing friend to people so why not flock to me?

Okay so this post is a bit of me patting myself on the back. haha. But I’m feeling the joy!

Uncorked!!

This weekend I went to a wonderful festival outside of Seattle in Kirkland Washington. First of all Kirkland is gorgeous!!! If I had an extra 6m laying around I’d buy one of those homes on lake Washington. How does one get that kind of money?!?

Anyway Kirkland is located on lake Washington. It is an upscale area that has high end boutiques, restaurants and other establishments. Every time I go there in in awe of the scenery. Lake Washington does make me nervous as it reminds me of an ocean with its intense waves.

Back to the festival- it was wonderful and for a great cause to support animals. I especially enjoyed the cat booth where I got to purchase toys for coco and lilly. Now the temps in the Seattle area never get above 80 BUT it just so happened that this weekend it was 97 degrees. Move me back to the east coast with that heat!  Just kidding don’t move me back there.. I can’t take the humidity.

Look at my farmers tan!!! Holy arm!!

My first time was easier than I thought!

Since moving to seattle I made a promise to myself that I would do things differently & do activities and live the way I’ve always wanted to. Moving to a new location it is much easier to do because it pushes you out of your comfort zone. I went kayaking for the first time this week!

I was extremely nervous! When I saw a post for boating I rsvp’d yes right away. I was in and didn’t even think of the details until I got to the boat house. I had no idea if we were sailboating or canoeing. Well, we were kayaking! The person I paid to kayak said that he has never see waves like that before in the lake. The wind was whipping for sure! I was so nervous and I said I’d stay by the “shore” and not leave the dock area.

The next thing I did was sign my life away on the waiver- they even had a sign that said “25 dollars extra if we have to come rescue you”. I’m not sure if I felt insulted- like I wouldn’t be worth $25 for saving!? I even told the guy and he said gas is expensive. Lol. Okay buddy it isn’t that pricey anymore.

He then gave me a life jacket which btw I’m terrified to wear because they are always so tight on my upper area. Lol. It’s usually embarrassing when I go and put one on- like they don’t make them in bra sizes?? Anyway my new friend & I got into the kayak. Her in the back and me in the front. I was even more nervous because I like to see everything and didn’t feel as in control.

It was super wavy by the dock but we literally spent an hour hardcore kayaking and taking selfies. Lol. When I was done kayaking and returning my life jacket the guy said “how was it” and I replied “I think I’d like to go professional”. Maybe it’s just me but gliding through the lake was amazing- I felt like I was one with the waves lol. i decided that every Monday I will kayak for an hour. 🙂 I’d like to do it more than that but that’s a start.

What the Mayo?

My third week in Seattle I was food shopping in “QFC” for condiments. First of all we don’t have QFC’s back In the philly area. A QFC is quality food center. It’s a really nice supermarket! I like it much better than Safeway- which we have back in the northeast and Pacific Northwest. While shopping I pulled my shopping cart up to the mayonnais section. Grabbed the “best foods” brand and thought omg they don’t have hellmanns here!! I thought every place had hellmanns. I mean how do you make a hoagie or sub without it?  I quickly grabbed my cell phone and started googling best foods. I thought it was a cheap knock off.

Well, it’s the same thing!!!

Different marketing & names in different parts of the country. Really ?!? it’s not like we are living in another country– oh wait I’m in Seattle… Pretty close. We have our own culture here. I can’t believe I was so shocked about mayonnaise. It  reminded me that I’m definitely not home anymore– I decided to buy a different brand of mayo that day. I just couldn’t buy a best food brand mayo –knowing everyday that I would open my fridge and see it would be a constant reminder to me that I’m away from my home area.

Yes I did just write a blog on mayo. 🙂 maybe next time it will be on the awesome bread we have here.
Do you guys like Mayo?? I know jimmy Fallon says it reminds him of snot.. Lol. I don’t quite see it that way.

I admit I’m a Jamba Juice junky

I didn’t exactly know what Jamba Juice was before I moved to Seattle. Clearly I figured it was just a straight juice place but it is WAY more & one of my fav finds in the PNW (Pacific Northwest).

The philly area needs these!!!

The first time I  heard that Jamba Juice was a “big deal” was when I was listening to a podcast from the former bachelor Jason from outside of Seattle and his lovely wife molly. Molly was raving about Jamba Juice and I was thinking really I can’t imagine it being that awesome. Well, it is.

They have-

Energy bowls- mix of berries, soy milk, Greek yogurt

Freshly squeezed juices & cold press juices

Smoothies!!! Omg I get the peanut butter chocolate. Minus the peanut butter!! Lol I know makes sense right?! But it rocks & I love to see the cashiers face when I embarassingly try to explain it. IMHO peanut butter smells so weird to me. Along with popcorn, mashed potatoes and Doritos.

Also—– we have more!!!

Oatmeal- flatbreads- breakfast wraps- bistro sandwiches & much more! Their menu is constantly increasing which keeps things exciting

Do you Jamba Juice? If so what do you get when you go??

These pics I got from the Bellevue market outside of Seattle. 😋

Love Eat24! <3 delivery made awesome

eat24

I’ve been finding a ton of awesome finds since moving to Seattle.  One super spectacular find is Eat24 (it is an app-also can be used on desktop.)  It is a yelp company- like yelp and Eat24 are married to one another.  They have reviews from customers on almost every dish that is sold from the establishment.  I love how you can see the pictures of the food as well- most women are visual so having this app is a score!  You can also order food in advance which is great- I know this is pretty cool for the planners!! It also gives an estimated delivery time.  Living in an apartment it is quite annoying with having delivery people try to figure out how to get into the apartment complex but with EAT24 I give detailed instructions.  Some companies charge delivery fees but from what I have found their food tends to be a little bit cheaper.  I just ordered sushi and I’m starving… I have to be craving to sushi to want to eat it.  Let’s just say I’m CRAVING..

what’s your fav sushi?  Mine is tempura- spicy style!!

XOXO
